Description

RN - Medical/Surgical – Wenatchee, WA

Contract Duration: 13 Weeks (04/27/2026 – 07/27/2026)

Shift: Nights (18:00 – 06:30) | 3x12-Hour Shifts

Guaranteed Hours: 36 Hours Weekly

Job Summary:

Seeking a compassionate and clinically skilled Med/Surg RN to join their night shift team in the beautiful Wenatchee Valley. This role focuses on holistic, evidence-based nursing care for a diverse patient population. You will be responsible for the full nursing process—from initial assessment and care plan development to complex medication administration and discharge planning. The unit requires a high level of collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe, high-quality outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Patient Care Coordination: Develop and implement individualized plans of care, reassessing status continually to meet physical, psychological, and social needs.
  • Clinical Execution: Administer medications and perform nursing treatments/procedures according to Confluence Health standards and the Washington Nurse Practice Act.
  • Holistic Assessment: Complete ongoing patient assessments and respond appropriately to changes in clinical status.
  • Documentation: Ensure accurate and timely documentation of assessments, interventions, and patient responses.
  • Education: Provide patient and family teaching to facilitate recovery and safe discharge.
  • Leadership & Delegation: Oversee care provided by non-licensed assistive personnel (CNAs/Techs), delegating tasks appropriately.
  • Floating: Required to float as a sitter as needed; may float to other units in rotation to support hospital census.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg experience is standard for this facility.
  • Licensure: Active Washington (WA) State or Compact RN License.
  • Certifications: Current AHA BLS and ACLS required.
  • Legal Standards: Must function within the guidelines of the Washington Nurse Practice Act and stay current with legal aspects of nursing.
  • Professionalism: Adheres strictly to hospital policies, unit standards, and maintains a clean, safe environment.

Unit & Facility Details

  • Address: Wenatchee, WA 9880.
  • Shift Details: 36 hours per week, 12-hour night shifts. No on-call requirement.

Clinical Spotlight: The Med/Surg Night Sentinel

Working nights on a Med/Surg unit in a regional hub like Wenatchee requires sharp assessment skills. You are the "eyes and ears" of the medical team during the hours when resources are lean. Your ability to catch the early signs of a patient "drifting"—subtle changes in mentation or vital signs—is vital. Because you may be asked to float as a sitter, your skills in de-escalation and therapeutic presence are just as important as your technical proficiency with IV pumps and wound care.

Wenatchee is known as the "Apple Capital of the World" and is a gateway to the Cascade Mountains and Lake Chelan.
