Description

Registered Nurse – ER (Night Shift)

Location: Templeton, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

  • Provide professional nursing care by assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care in the Emergency Room.
  • Coordinate, manage, provide, and delegate patient care while adhering to established nursing standards.
  • Promote teamwork and cooperation among healthcare team members.
  • Maintain clear, concise, and legible documentation and deliver effective patient reports.
  • Recognize and respond to signs of cardiac, respiratory distress, and other emergencies, including Code Blue situations.
  • Administer and document medications accurately following hospital policies and patient rights.
  • Assist in patient discharge planning and education, as well as new staff development.
  • Follow infection control guidelines and complete assigned quality monitors.
  • Adapt to changes in unit environment and workflow.

Work Schedule

  • Night shift: 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
  • 3 shifts per week, 12 hours per shift (36 hours/week)

Required Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Minimum 1 year of recent Emergency Department (ED) experience within the last year

Licenses & Certifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California

Health & Safety Requirements

  • COVID-19 vaccination or approved exemption; seasonal COVID booster required for Los Angeles County.
  • Flu vaccination or facility-specific declination/exemption required during flu season (Oct 31 - Apr 30).
  • Tuberculosis screening (QGold/TSpot or 2 PPDs) within 30 days of start; annual updates required. Chest X-ray if history of positive TB.
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination within 10 years or positive titer (declinations accepted except at this facility).
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR), Varicella, and Hepatitis B: positive titer, vaccination series, or signed declination required.
  • Drug testing within 30 days before start.
  • Physical exam within 90 days of start.
  • N95 fit test preferred; PAPR documentation if applicable.

Background & Documentation

  • Background check within 30 days of start covering last 7 years of residence and work history.
  • Employment application/resume with 7-year work history including gaps.
  • Two clinical references verified within one year of start.
  • Unit-specific skills checklist required.
  • Current picture ID and passport-style photo for badge.
  • Completion of facility-specific agreements and acknowledgments prior to start (confidentiality, waiver of benefits, intellectual property rights, contractor compliance).
