Shift: Days (07:00 – 19:30) | 36 or 48 Hours Weekly

Schedule: Every Other Weekend Required

Job Summary

A premier teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School, is seeking a dedicated Acute Rehab RN. This role is located within the Comprehensive Rehab unit, a 30-bed department featuring all private rooms. You will care for adult patients transitioning from acute care hospitals who require intensive therapy and medical management to regain independence.

Key Responsibilities

• Rehabilitative Nursing Care: Manage a diverse patient population including those recovering from limb loss, organ transplants, total joint replacements, and elective spine surgeries.
• Medical Management: Monitor patients with complex comorbidities such as Heart Failure and post-surgical fractures.
• Functional Advocacy: Partner with Physical (PT) and Occupational (OT) Therapists to integrate functional goals into daily nursing care, such as safe transfers and ADL (Activities of Daily Living) retraining.
• Wound & Incision Care: Perform advanced dressing changes for surgical sites and manage care for patients with amputations.
• Patient/Family Education: Lead teaching sessions on new medication regimens, mobility safety, and home care management to reduce readmission risks.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum 1-2 years of acute care or acute rehab experience is standard for this facility. Experience with transplant recovery or orthopedic post-op care is highly valued.
• Licensure: Active Massachusetts (MA) RN License.
• Certifications: AHA BLS required.
• Shift Flexibility: 12-hour day shifts. The facility is willing to hire for either 36 hours (3 shifts) or 48 hours (4 shifts) per week.

In the Comprehensive Rehab unit at Spaulding, you are the "bridge" between the ICU/Surgical floor and the patient's home. Your clinical expertise isn't just about stabilization; it’s about optimization. Whether you are monitoring the hemodynamics of a fresh heart transplant patient or helping a patient with a new limb loss navigate their first steps, your role combines the technical skills of med/surg nursing with the motivational coaching of a therapist.
