Job Summary:

The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for the decontamination, inspection, assembly, sterilization, and maintenance of surgical instruments and medical equipment. This role ensures all instruments meet the highest standards of safety, quality, and infection control.

Key Responsibilities:

• Follow ANSI/AAMI standards, manufacturer IFUs, SOPs, and work instructions
• Decontaminate surgical instruments using proper PPE and protocols
• Disassemble, clean, inspect, and reassemble complex instruments
• Assemble and package instrument trays accurately per guidelines
• Operate washers, disinfectors, sterilizers, and related equipment
• Inspect instruments for cleanliness, functionality, and defects
• Document missing, damaged, or malfunctioning instruments
• Maintain accurate records of sterilization cycles and tracking systems
• Monitor and manage inventory of instruments and supplies
• Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment
• Maintain clean and organized work areas
• Ensure compliance with infection control and quality standards
• Communicate effectively with internal teams and departments
• Participate in ongoing training and process improvement initiatives

Required Skills & Experience:

• Minimum 1 year of hands-on sterile processing experience
• Strong knowledge of decontamination, assembly, and sterilization processes
• Familiarity with ANSI/AAMI standards and manufacturer IFUs
• Experience operating autoclaves, washer disinfectors, and sterilization equipment
• Strong attention to detail and quality control
• Excellent manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
• Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Basic computer proficiency for documentation and tracking
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Team-oriented with a proactive approach

Education:

• High School Diploma or equivalent (Required)

Certifications & Licensure:

• Sterile Processing Certification (CRCST, CIS, or equivalent) – Required
