Manitowoc - WH and OB Serv

o Level I Nursery
o Level IV Trauma Center
o Primary Stroke Center
o Beds: 69
o Covid vaccine required
● General Information
o Beds: 14 (7 L&D; 7 general)
o Experience: 2 years
o First-time traveler: Willing to consider
o The nursery is a well -baby nursery, they encourage rooming in
● Patient Types:
o Active labor, post-partum, antepartum. GYN
o High Risk mothers are transferred out
o During C-sections, nurses go to the OR for the baby
● Patient Ratios:
o 1:1 labor/recovery
o 1:3 couplets
● Required Certifications:
o BLS, FHM, NRP
● Skills required
o Triage, active labor, post-partum, antepartum. Vaginal checks, FHM, nursery experience
● Support on the Unit:
o CNA: 1:6
o Team lead
o Phlebotomy/RN: draw blood
o Hospitalist 24/7
o Bedside monitoring
o FHM at nursing station
o Unit Secretary (day)
● Charting System/Equipment:
o EPIC
o Alaris
o Pyxis
● Floating:
o None
● Orientation:
o Typically one full shift – potentially to come in at 12pm to meet with educators, then move to the unit for the remainder of their shift
● Scheduling:
o Weekend rotation: every other
o On Call: none
o Holiday Expectations: As needed
