Registered Nurse - Pediatric Cardiac OR

Location

  • Tacoma, Washington

Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

Shift Details

  • 12-hour day shifts (06:45 – 19:15)
  • Total hours per week: 36
  • Weekend rotation: Call only (2 weekends in a 6-week period)
  • On call: 1 call shift per week with 30-minute response time

Patient Population

  • Neonates to 18 years old, including adult-sized patients
  • Patients may have developmental delays and/or congenital anomalies
  • Cardiothoracic cases such as Tetralogy of Fallot, pericardial window, transposition of great vessels, open heart valve repairs, ECMO, PDA ligation through thoracotomy, ASD repairs

Facility Level

  • Level II Pediatric Trauma Center
  • Level IV NICU

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years Pediatric Cardiovascular Operating Room (Peds CVOR) experience
  • Prior travel experience not required unless less than 5 years Peds CVOR experience (then first-time traveler not accepted)
  • WA State or compact RN license
  • BLS and PALS certifications required
  • CNOR certification preferred

Skills

  • Highly preferred: IV start, scrubbing, arterial line management, circulating experience with pediatric cardiac patients

Additional Information

  • EMR system: EPIC
  • Floating to general OR to assist with cases when not busy in CVOR
  • Scrub color provided
  • Free parking available

  • Flu documentation for 2025-26 season
  • Annual core competencies
  • CPR certification (BLS)
  • Criminal background check and authorization
  • Drug screen
  • Employment authorization
  • Immunizations and titers (Hep B, MMR, Varicella, TDAP)
  • Physical exam and PPD test
  • HIPAA and confidentiality training
  • Various other compliance and credentialing documents required
