Description

Job Title: Medical Physicist
Location: Concord, NC 28025
Shift: 8 hour, Day Shift - 40 hours; 0800-1700


Orientation: 5 days of orientation
1st day: Meet with manager, team lead (badge, login access, CBLs, etc.)
Remainder of the shift-shadow another medical physicist
2nd -5th day: continue with orientation
Orientation will be based on comfort level and experience
 

Scheduling: No weekends, No call
Business Operations: Monday through Friday, 0730-1730

Holiday Requirements only scheduled when Clinic is opening – closed for major holidays

About Facility:
Outpatient Clinic within Cabarrus – Concord, NC

Department Information:
Census/Avg patients seen per day:
2 Linear Accelerators – Combined avg census 50-60 patients per day

Minimum Experience required: 3 years of post-residency experience completed
Deliver radiation
Background with photons/HDR/LDR/eclipse planning software/SRS

First-time traveler: Yes

Patient Types/Common Diagnoses: Adults only

Cancer patients: All types of cancer
High dose radiation (HDR) - Vaginal Cylinders Only
Prostate seed implant - Varian Variseed software
Photons
External beam patients
SRS - MLC/Cones
SBRT

Required License, National Certification, Certs (BLS, ACLS, etc.), or other position specific requirements such as Driver's License and/or Insurance:

Required: CMP (Certified Medical Physicist - Therapy) through ABR (American Board of Radiology)


Preferred: BLS, ACLS

Skills required:
Oncology background
Performs QA on equipment as required
Machine maintenance done daily/weekly/monthly
Performs delivery of non-standard, standard, and complicated treatment planning and techniques, which may include high dose radiation (HDR), low dose radiation (LDR), stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) and stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT)
Performs radiation surveys of treatment rooms
Calibrates various therapy machines
Linear accelerators - Varian TrueBeam
Measures instruments against national standards, measures therapy beam data for treatment planning purposes
Familiar with guided radiation therapy – familiar with IT/chart checks/QA
CT imaging – Philips

Soft skills: Strong communication with the interdisciplinary team
Support within Department:
