Description
Pride Health is hiring a Histotechnician (Traveler) to support our client’s medical facility, located in Grand Rapids, MI 49503
This is 13+ weeks contract job with a possible extension opportunity and a great way to start working with a top-tier healthcare organization!
Location: Grand Rapids, MI 49503
Schedule: Sunday-Thursday 9 pm-5:30 am (40hours/week)
Pay Range: $2713/week (Offered pay rate will be based on education, experience, and healthcare credentials.) The rate is based on years of DIRECT EXPERIENCE as listed in the resume
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine and specialized slide preparation for microscopic evaluation by pathologists, following established protocols and under general supervision
- Manage and process documentation related to specimen accessioning and reporting
- Ensure accurate and timely tissue processing
- Perform embedding and microtomy for designated specimen types as directed by the Histology Manager/Supervisor
- Prepare slides for routine Hematoxylin and Eosin (H&E) staining
- Conduct manual or automated coverslipping of stained slides
- Perform special staining procedures as approved by the Histology Manager/Supervisor
- Maintain and clean laboratory equipment used in daily operations
- Organize and file completed tissue blocks and slides
- Follow laboratory quality control procedures and document all QC activities
- Adhere to corporate safety, quality assurance, and compliance standards
- Ensure compliance with all applicable local, federal, CLIA, and CAP regulations
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized laboratory workspace
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate degree (A.A./A.S.) with at least 1 year of relevant experience within the last 10 years, OR
- High school diploma (or equivalent) with a minimum of 5 years of full-time experience as a Histotechnician within the last 10 years
- HT (ASCP) certification, ASCP eligibility, OR equivalent of 5 years of full-time histology experience within the last 10 years
