Registered Nurse - Emergency Department

Location: Hickory, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

• Provide nursing care in a fast-paced Emergency Department with 32 beds.
• Patient population ranges from birth to death.
• Work involves critical care thinking and managing a variety of diagnoses including strokes, STEMIs, trauma, and more.
• Utilize Cerner electronic health records system.
• Expected to float to other areas where competent to assist as needed.

Work Schedule

• Shift: Days/Mid (11 AM - 11 PM)
• Weekly guaranteed hours: 36
• Weekend hours rotate every other weekend
• Call requirements vary depending on census

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in North Carolina
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, CPI, NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Experience with Cerner electronic health records system

Unit & Patient Care Details

• Patient ratios typically 1:4 or 1:5
• Use of critical care equipment
• Unit does not have a designated trauma level but receives all trauma cases
• Energetic and knowledgeable personality fit preferred

Additional Notes

• Candidates must be located 60 miles or more from the facility to qualify for travel assignment
• Dress code: Scrubs of any color allowed; hoodies and inappropriate t-shirts are not acceptable
• Orientation occurs bi-weekly
