Unit Notes

Clinical Responsibilities

• Drip Management:
  • Titrate drips such as:
    • Heparin
    • Ketamine (set rate)
    • Antibiotics
    • Blood products
• IV Management:
  • Frequent IV treatments required
• Telemetry:
  • Monitor techs available to read strips
  • Prior telemetry experience preferred
  • Uses telemetry monitoring system (brand unspecified)

Staffing & Support

• Charge Nurse:
  • Starts early (05:45–06:15)
  • Typically no patient assignment
  • Acts as a resource for staff
• Nurse Aides (CNAs):
  • Ratio: 1:8–12 patients
  • CNA II may assist with:
    • IV removal
    • Foley catheter removal
• Respiratory Support:
  • Equipment used:
    • BiPAP
    • CPAP
    • Nasal cannula (NC)

Scheduling & Shifts

• Shift Timing: 06:45 – 19:15
• Self-Scheduling:
  • Available with secretary coordination
  • Block scheduling possible (flexibility expected)
• Weekend Requirement:
  • 4 weekend shifts per 4 weeks
• Holiday Requirement:
  • Some holidays required
• On-Call:
  • Possible during low census
  • Typically called back if needed

Floating Requirements

• May float to:
  • Medical
  • Medical Oncology
  • Telemetry units (including cardiac drips)

Scrub Policy

• Navy blue scrubs with CRMC logo required

Orientation

• 2–3 unit-specific shifts during first week
