Job description:

We are currently seeking an experienced Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) for a 13-week contract assignment at a busy Ambulatory Surgery Center in Greenwich, CT. This is a great opportunity for a skilled OR nurse who enjoys working in a fast-paced surgical environment and is committed to delivering high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities

• Consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.
• Assess and monitor patient vital signs and overall condition throughout the surgical process.
• Assist with patient positioning and ensure safety during procedures.
• Prepare and maintain the operating room and surgical equipment.
• Prep the patient’s operative area using aseptic technique with approved antiseptic solutions.
• Ensure the correct patient and correct procedure through a properly executed Time Out procedure.
• Provide accurate care and handling of specimens.
• Monitor all equipment used during surgery to ensure it is functioning properly.
• Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation in the facility’s EMR system.
• Inventory surgical supplies before and after procedures.
• Provide basic bedside care and respond to life-saving situations according to nursing standards and protocols.
• Monitor the patient’s physical well-being throughout the care continuum.

Additional Scrub Responsibilities (as needed)

• Perform surgical hand scrubbing in accordance with AORN standards.
• Select and manage surgical instruments and supplies for procedures.
• Pass instruments and supplies to the surgeon during surgery.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of Operating Room RN experience required
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Associate Degree or Bachelor of Science in Nursing)
• Active Connecticut RN license
• BLS certification required
