Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced CVOR Registered Nurse to support a high-acuity cardiovascular surgery program within a Level I trauma center. This role involves circulating and assisting in complex cardiac and vascular surgical procedures in a fast-paced operating room environment.
Schedule & Assignment Details
- Shift: 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM (Monday–Friday)
- Call required: Nights and weekends
- Floating: Required to Main OR when CVOR cases are not scheduled
- Assignment length: 13 weeks
- Facility type: Level I Trauma / Heart Program Hospital
- EMR: Meditech
Key Responsibilities
- Circulate and assist in cardiovascular and thoracic surgical procedures
- Support the surgical team during open-heart and minimally invasive cardiac cases
- Anticipate surgeon needs and maintain sterile field integrity at all times
- Assist in procedures including suctioning, retracting, suturing, and endoscopic camera handling (second scrub role)
- Ensure proper instrumentation, supplies, and equipment are available and functioning
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and OR staff for optimal patient outcomes
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 2 years OR experience in a similar acute care facility
- MUST have cardiovascular OR experience (no exceptions)
- Experience with:
- CABG (Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting)
- Valve replacements
- Robotic-assisted thoracic surgery (DaVinci preferred)
- Strong OR circulating and scrub support skills
- Ability to function in both first and second scrub roles
Required Certifications & Education:
- BLS required from AHA (must be obtained within 30 days if not current)
- CST (Certified Surgical Technologist) or TS-C certification preferred/required per facility guidelines
- Graduate of accredited surgical technology program or equivalent training

- Full SSN is required at the time of submission
- Local candidates are not eligible (must reside more than 50 miles from the facility)
