Nurse Practitioner
Local or Travel
Location: Shiprock, NM 87420
Pay Rate: $75 per hour plus $1,246 weekly travel stipends
Schedule: 10 to 12 hours, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Contract Length: 6 months with the option to extend
Job Description: We are seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner (NP) to provide emergency and urgent care services in a busy IHS Emergency Department. This role is ideal for providers who thrive in high-acuity environments and are confident in independent clinical decision-making.
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of experience as an NP or PA-C (Emergency or acute care preferred)
- Active NP unrestricted license in the U.S.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS).
- Valid state driver's license throughout the term of this contract.
- Valid Liability insurance
Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive emergency and urgent care to patients of all ages in ED and SuperTrack settings
- Perform rapid assessments, diagnose conditions, and develop treatment plans for acute and critical cases
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including labs and imaging
- Perform procedures within scope of practice (e.g., suturing, splinting, wound care, etc.)
- Stabilize and manage life-threatening conditions, initiating emergency interventions when necessary
- Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
- Prioritize and manage patient flow in a high-volume emergency setting
- Accurately document all patient encounters in the electronic health record (EHR) before end of shift
- Ensure compliance with facility policies, clinical guidelines, and quality standards
- Provide patient education, discharge instructions, and follow-up care planning
