Job Description
- Unit Type: Overflow unit for winter census in ED holding.
- Patient Diagnoses: General Surgery and Medical Tele, including cardiac telemetry and various diagnoses requiring medical intervention or surgical procedures.
- Daily Census: Approximately 18 patients.
- Target Ratios: 1:6-7.
Shift Details
- Schedule: 4 x 12-hour night shifts (1845-0715) from Friday to Monday.
- Float Requirement: Floating as needed to similar units.
- Weekend Schedule: Required to work Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.
Required Skills and Certifications
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience or 1 year with travel experience. First-time travelers are accepted.
- Skills: IV Start and Telemetry.
- Certifications Required:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BCLS (Basic Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Certification (preferred)
Orientation and Training
- Unit Orientation: 24 hours of orientation.
- Scrubs: Navy Blue.
Additional Information
- Internal Notes: Must pass EKG testing prior to start for this specialty.
- Documentation Required:
- Various accounting documents (e.g., W4, I9, photo ID)
- Certifications (e.g., ACLS, BLS)
- Health documents (e.g., TB test, flu vaccination)

Competencies
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam: Required for specific RN specialties.
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Certification: Required for ER and BH nurses.
