Surgical Assistant – General/Neuro (Day Shift, Traveler)
Location: Milwaukee, WI
Facility Overview:
- Level III Trauma Center | Level III NICU
- Magnet Designated | Primary Stroke Center
- 636-bed hospital | 21 ORs
Position Summary:
Seeking an experienced Surgical Assistant with strong General and Neuro experience to support complex surgical cases in a fast-paced OR environment.
Requirements:
- 2+ years of Surgical Assistant experience
- First-time travelers not recommended
- BLS required
- Certification required: NBSTSA, ABSA, or NCCSA
Key Skills:
- Neuro/ENT: Spine (laminectomy, fusions), cranial (tumors, VP shunts), ENT procedures, navigation systems
- Orthopedic: Total joints, fractures, spine, arthroscopy, specialty tables/equipment
- General: Vascular, laparoscopic, oncology, GU/GYN, robotics (no training provided)
Work Environment:
- Patient Ratio: 1:1
- Cross-trained within Main OR & Urology (no other facility floating)
- Support: Charge RN, Leads, Supervisors
Tech & Equipment:
- EPIC, Alaris, Pyxis
Schedule:
- 8-hour Day Shift (40 hrs/week)
- Start time: 5:30 AM – 7:00 AM
On-Call:
- 30-min response time
- ~10 EOS call shifts + 1–2 weekends per 8 weeks
Other Info:
- Orientation: 1–1.5 weeks
- Scrubs provided | Free parking + shuttle
- Cafeteria & Starbucks onsite
- No call rooms
