About Facility:

• Sheboygan, WI
• 101 Beds
• Level IV Trauma Center
• Primary Stroke Center

Unit Information:

• Beds: 24
• Minimum Years of Experience required: 2 years
• Will you accept a first-time traveler: Yes

Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:

• Ortho – total hip and knee replacements, spinal surgeries
• General MedSurg – CHF, COPD, respiratory/kidney/liver/GI issues, etc.

Patient Ratios:

• Days/Eves: 1:4-5
• Nights: 1:5

Required License, National Certification, Certs:

• BLS; NIHSS preferred

Skills required:

• PIV starts, wound care, dressing changes, wound vacs, drains, chest tubes, stable trach management, knowledge of patients on bipap/cpap
• Drips: insulin and heparin

Support within the Department:

• CNA: 1:5-10 ratio depending on shift. Can do vitals, BG, IV removals
• HUC here on days, part time on Eves
• Charge nurse – takes modified patient assignment
• Phlebotomy for peripheral lab draws
• IV/VAT Team – no, notify House Super for hard sticks
• RT 24/7
• Hospitalist 24/7
• OT/PT/ST during the weekdays

Technology/Equipment:

• EMR: EPIC – preferred experience
• IV Pump: Alaris
• Med dispensing: Pyxis
• Floating: If yes, where: Could float within scope of practice at the hospital, mostly to MS1, Cardiac MS2, and ED Holding

Orientation (facility and unit):

• NEO
• 1-2 12h shift on the unit

Scheduling:

• Weekend rotation: every third
• On call: No
• Holiday Expectations: Depending on time of year, could work up to 3 holidays in contract
• Thanksgiving Eve, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, NYE, NYD, 4th of July, Labor Day, Memorial Day all holidays
• Approval of RTO: can approve up to 7 days
• Shift times: 0700-1900, 1500-0300, 1900-0700, 0300-1500
• Schedule cycle: made in 4-6 week increments, will receive 2 weeks prior
• Try to accommodate as best as possible for scheduling
