Description
Registered Nurse - PACU (Columbus, Ohio)
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Day shift, either 4 shifts of 10 hours (5:00 AM - 3:30 PM) or 3 shifts of 12 hours (5:00 AM - 5:30 PM) due to summer vacations
- Weekend Requirement: 1-2 weekends per 4-week schedule
- Unit: Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)
- Special Skills:
- Level 1 Trauma Experience
- Telemetry and ventilator experience
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only (Instructor/Provider and RQI acceptable)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only (Instructor/Provider and RQI acceptable)
- NIH Stroke Scale Certification (required within 1 year of start and renewed every 2 years for certain units; 3.0 CE hours required)
- Competency Exams:
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required prior to start)
- Unit-Specific Competency Exam
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required within 1 year of start and updated annually; minimum passing score 76%)
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio
- Minimum 1 year of recent experience in Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients
- ACLS certification
- Telemetry experience
Additional Requirements
- Annual acknowledgment of orientation safety manual
- Annual review and signature of ethics and compliance policies (for new contracts signed 11/7/24 and beyond)
- Fraud, Waste, and Abuse training certificate required prior to start and updated annually
- Background check and fingerprinting results must be clear before or at start; pending background check attestation allowed under specific conditions
- Dress code and hand hygiene policy acknowledgment required for contracts signed 5/19/25 and beyond
Notes
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required
- Facility-specific fingerprinting and background check procedures must be followed strictly
- Candidates can renew ACLS and BLS certifications at the facility if needed
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam remediation process is in place for candidates who do not pass initially
This position is ideal for experienced RNs with PACU and trauma experience who meet the outlined certification, licensing, and health requirements and are comfortable working day shifts with weekend rotations.
