Description

Registered Nurse - Emergency Department

Location

  • Danville, Virginia
  • Small town with city offerings, known as “The River District” by the Dan River with parks, trails, historical architecture, boutiques, art galleries, and museums
  • Approximately 45 miles north of Greensboro, North Carolina

Employment Type

  • Travel assignment
  • Contract length: 13 weeks

Unit and Facility Information

  • Emergency Department with 31 beds and 2 triage rooms
  • 7 beds designated for Behavioral Health or Acute patients
  • Patient ratio typically 1:4, with exceptions during high volume or special circumstances
  • Electronic Health Records primarily MedHost (ED) and Meditech for admit holds and behavioral health patients
  • Serves all age groups (geriatric, adult, pediatric)
  • Shift: 36 hours per week, rotating weekends/as needed
  • No call requirements
  • Float as needed

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia
  • Minimum 5 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, including ED experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • ICU experience considered an asset
  • Certifications required prior to start:
    • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
    • Basic Life Support (BLS)
    • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification
    • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC)

Additional Information

  • Orientation occurs bi-weekly on Tuesdays
  • Candidates must be located 60 miles or more from the facility to qualify for travel status
  • Professional, positive, compassionate, and team-oriented personality preferred
  • Scrub color is traveler’s choice
  • Complete and clear screenings required before start
