Description

Facility: Newark Beth Israel Medical Center (RWJBarnabas Health)
Shift: Day Shift – 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM (7.5 hours)
Schedule: Every other weekend required

Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse specializing in Wound Care to join a leading acute care facility in Newark, NJ. This role focuses on providing advanced wound care management for patients in ICU and acute care settings, including post–open heart surgery and transplant cases. The nurse will play a key role in pressure injury prevention, wound assessment, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform comprehensive wound assessments and manage complex wounds (Stage I–IV, arterial, venous, neuropathic)
  • Administer advanced wound treatments including VAC therapy, debridement, and specialized dressings
  • Provide ostomy care and patient/family education
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement care plans
  • Participate in wound rounds and prevalence studies
  • Track and document wound care metrics using EPIC and Excel
  • Focus on prevention and reduction of hospital-acquired pressure injuries
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of patient care

Requirements:

  • Active NJ RN License or Compact License (required at submission)
  • BLS Certification
  • CWCN or WOCN Certification (required)
  • Minimum 1 year of wound care experience
  • Experience in acute care or critical care settings preferred
  • EPIC charting experience required
  • Strong knowledge of wound care treatments, ostomy care, and infection control

  • First-time travelers accepted

  • Must be flexible with shift end times based on patient care needs
  • No patient handoff at shift end
  • Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
  • Holiday requirement: Must work 1 of 2 or 2 of 3 holidays
