Description
Oncology Nurse Navigator (ONN)
The Oncology Nurse Navigator (ONN) coordinates and supports care for patients with prostate, bladder, and testicular cancers. The role involves guiding patients through diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up while serving as a key liaison between patients, families, and the healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and track oncology patient care across the treatment journey
- Educate patients and families on diagnosis, treatment options, and side effects
- Serve as primary patient contact and advocate
- Coordinate referrals to specialists and support services
- Assist with treatment planning, protocols, and medication coordination
- Support insurance, financial, and community resource navigation
- Track patient progress, maintain records, and update cancer registries
- Collaborate with physicians, pharmacy, and clinical teams
Qualifications
- BSN required
- Minimum 3 years of clinical nursing experience (oncology/urology preferred)
- RN license required
- BLS required; OCN preferred or required within 24 months
- Strong communication, organization, and patient coordination skills
Work Environment
Clinical setting with regular collaboration across multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
