Registered Nurse – Stepdown / PCU (Progressive Care Unit)

Location:  Pocatello, ID
Duration: 13 Weeks | Shift: Night (3×12 hrs, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM)

Job Overview

• Provide intermediate-level care to patients in a 24-bed PCU/Stepdown/Telemetry unit
• Manage patients requiring close monitoring but not ICU-level care
• Work in a Comprehensive Stroke Center & Level II Trauma facility
• Care for complex cardiac and medical patients including post-surgical cases

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and assess patients with cardiac, neurological, and respiratory conditions
• Maintain 1:4 patient ratio on nights
• Perform cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation/management
• Administer medications including cardiac and vasoactive drips (non-titrated)
• Provide central line and peripheral IV care
• Administer blood products safely
• Respond to emergencies using Rapid Response/Code Teams
• Support respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP and non-invasive airway management
• Follow infection control protocols and isolation precautions
• Document patient care using Epic EMR system

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of Stepdown/PCU experience
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Experience with:
  • Telemetry and cardiac monitoring
  • Stroke and cardiac patient care
  • IV therapy and phlebotomy
• Ability to manage 1:3–4 patient ratios
