Registered Nurse – Oncology (Inpatient Unit)

Location: Baton Rouge, LA
Duration: 13 Weeks | Shift: Night (3×12 hrs, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM)

Job Overview

• Provide specialized care in a 32-room inpatient oncology unit
• Manage adult and geriatric patients undergoing chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and cancer treatments
• Deliver comprehensive care including clinical, emotional, and end-of-life support
• Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary oncology team

Key Responsibilities

• Administer and monitor chemotherapy, biotherapy, and immunotherapy
• Manage oncologic emergencies (tumor lysis syndrome, sepsis, anaphylaxis, hemorrhage, spinal cord compression)
• Provide central line, PICC line, and port access/management
• Administer blood products, antibiotics, antifungals, antivirals, and supportive medications
• Monitor and manage treatment side effects (neuropathy, nausea, mucositis, fatigue, edema)
• Deliver pain management including PCA pumps and IV narcotics
• Perform lab monitoring and recognize abnormal values
• Educate patients and families on treatment plans and symptom management
• Maintain neutropenic and isolation precautions

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of Oncology RN experience
• Travel experience required
• Certification: BLS (required)
• Strong experience with:
  • Chemotherapy administration
  • Oncology infusion therapy
  • Central line and port management
