Registered Nurse – PACU / Pre-Op / Phase II Recovery

Location:  Saint Paul, MN
Duration: 12 Weeks | Shift: Days (3×12 hrs; multiple start times between 5:30 AM – 11:00 PM)

Job Overview

• Provide care across PACU (Phase I), Phase II Recovery, and Pre-Op units
• Manage patients recovering from anesthesia and surgical procedures
• Deliver care in a 1:1 patient ratio, high-acuity perioperative setting
• Work in a teaching hospital with diverse surgical specialties

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor patients during immediate post-anesthesia recovery (Phase I & II)
• Perform pre-operative assessments and patient preparation
• Manage airway, ventilation, and hemodynamic stability post-surgery
• Administer and monitor procedural sedation and reversal agents
• Provide care for ventilated patients, extubation, and airway support
• Manage pain control, PCA pumps, and post-op medications
• Perform cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia management
• Provide central line, PICC line, and IV access care
• Educate patients on post-operative care and discharge instructions
• Conduct follow-up calls and ensure safe discharge planning

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of PACU experience
• Travel experience required (no first-time travelers)
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS (required)
• Experience with:
  • Phase I & Phase II PACU recovery
  • Pre-operative and post-operative patient care
  • Airway and anesthesia recovery management
• Epic charting experience required
