Registered Nurse (Operating Room / OR Float)

Location: Clear Lake, CA 95422

 Schedule & Hours

• Shift: Day Shift
• Schedule: 4 x 10‑hour shifts
• Hours: Typically 6:30 AM – 5:00 PM (subject to change)
• Call Required: ✅ Yes
• Float Role: ✅ Yes (OR Float Nurse)

✅ Requirements (Hard Stops)

• Active California RN license
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• AHA BLS (required prior to patient care; recert every 2 years)
• ACLS
  • Required for Perioperative Services
  • Must be obtained within 6 months if not current
• PALS
  • Required for Perioperative Services
  • Must be obtained within 6 months if not current
• Ability to take OR call

🧾 Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive perioperative nursing care in the Operating Room
• Function as a circulating nurse across multiple OR specialties as a float
• Prepare operating rooms with appropriate equipment, instrumentation, and supplies
• Maintain strict adherence to sterile technique, infection control, and safety standards
• Participate in and enforce Universal Protocol / Time‑Out procedures
• Assist surgeons and anesthesia providers throughout surgical procedures
• Administer medications, IV therapy, and treatments per provider orders
• Monitor patient status throughout the perioperative phase and respond to emergencies
• Manage specimen handling, labeling, and transport
• Support wound management and surgical site care
• Ensure compliance with AORN standards, hospital policies, and regulatory requirements
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, surgical technologists, and interdisciplinary teams
• Accurately document perioperative care in the medical record
• Take on‑call assignments and respond to urgent surgical needs as scheduled
