Sinai - ED
● About Facility
· Milwaukee, WI
· Level IV Trauma Center
· Level III NICU
· Advance Comprehensive Stroke Center
· Teaching hospital
· Geriatric Accredited Center
· Beds: 228
● General Information
· Beds: 35 beds; 6 fast track rooms
· Avg. # of patients seen per day: 168
· Experience? 3 years ED experience – needs to be in a fast paced facility
· First-time traveler? Upon Review – with strong experience
● Patient Types:
· Neonate to Geriatrics - all ED diagnoses seen
· Heavy Mental Health population
· Invasive Neuro, STEMI requiring Cath Lab – stabilized and shipped out to St. Luke’s
· Trauma, include but not limited to: GSW, Stabbings, Falls, MVC
● Patient Ratios:
· Day & Night – 1:4 (acuity based)
· Fast Track - 1:6
● Required Certifications:
· BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, TNCC
● Skills required
· 3 years of ED experience in fast paced ED
· Cardiac rhythm interpretation, IV skills, basic knowledge of critical care drips and med administration, NIHSS experience – cannot obtain prior to start, TPA administration, blood administration, procedural sedation, code blue experience
· Triage experience (strongly preferred)
● Support on the Unit:
· Unit secretary – 24/7
· ED Tech, 24/7 – able to draw blood, glucose checks
· Charge nurse – may rarely have lower acuity assignment dependent on staffing
· Phlebotomy – may respond in Trauma’s; may assist with blood cultures or difficult sticks
· RT, 24/7
· ED Physicians, 24/7
· Mid-Level providers, 24/7
· ED Educator
· OT, PT, ST
· Security – Locked unit and home base is in lobby of ED
· Central and bedside telemetry monitoring
● Charting System/Equipment:
· EPIC
· Alaris
· Pyxis
● Floating:
· N/A
● Orientation:
· (2) 12 hr shifts on unit
● Scheduling:
· Shift times: dependent on requisition
▪ 11a-11p – during the week
▪ 1500-0300 - weekend
· Weekend rotation – every other

· No call required
· Holiday Expectations: 2/4 major holidays or every other
