6p-6a with every other weekend

ICU Unit Overview

Common Diagnoses / Patient Types

Respiratory failure
Sepsis (repeated frequently)
STEMI (heart attack)
Post-TPA stroke
Overdose cases
Suicide attempts
Shock (various types)
Heart blocks
COVID patients

Staffing / Coverage Model

ICU ratio: 1:2 (RN:patients)
Step-down ratio: 1:3
Float requirement:
- ICU RNs may float to Telemetry
- May also float to Med-Surg
- ⚠️ Must confirm willingness to float

Facility Support & Monitoring

Intensivist available in hospital when present
If off-site: available via return/on-call system
Each ICU room includes:
- Critical care telemedicine camera
- Alert button system
24/7 coverage:
- ED physician in-house
- Hospitalist in-house

Certifications Required

ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
NIHSS (Stroke scale certification)
PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)

Onboarding Requirements

IV competency test (Day 1)
Medication test (Day 1)
Physical exam + drug screen
- Completed the week before start date
- Unpaid requirement
