RN – PICU (Pediatric ICU) | Night Shift
📍 Carolinas Medical Center (Levine Children’s Hospital)
Assignment Overview
- Position: Registered Nurse – PICU
- Schedule: 36 Hours/Week (3x12s)
- Shift: Nights (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM)

Unit Information
- Unit: Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)
- Beds: 24
- Average Census: 21–23 patients
Patient Population
- Respiratory failure
- Trauma (including NAT cases)
- DKA, seizures
- Neurosurgical cases
- Renal failure (acute/chronic)
- Transplants (Kidney, Liver)
- Complex medical & blood disorders
- Surgical & orthopedic cases
Ratios
- RN Ratio: Based on acuity
- 1:1
- 1:2
- 2:1
Requirements
- Experience:
- Minimum 2 years high-acuity PICU experience (required)
- Must be comfortable in a fast-paced, critical care environment
- Certifications:
- BLS
- PALS
- Traveler Status:
- First-time travelers accepted
- EPIC experience
- Vasoactive drip titration
- Ventilator & trach management
- Invasive lines (ART, CVP)
- CRRT experience
- Chest tubes, feeding tubes, Foley care
- Sedation & analgesia management
- ICP monitoring (Camino, EVDs)
- Arctic Sun, Belmont Rapid Infuser
- Strong sterile/aseptic technique
- Ability to assist bedside procedures
👉 Must be comfortable floating to Pediatric CVICU

Scheduling & Requirements
- Weekend Requirement:
- 2 full weekends (Fri–Mon) every 6 weeks
- On-Call: None
- Holidays: Required
- Floating:
- CVICU, NICU, Progressive Care, General Peds
- Schedule Cycle: Every 6 weeks
- RTO: Manager approval
