Registered Nurse (RN) – PACU / Critical Care

Shift: 4x10’s
Schedule: Variable start times between 9:30 AM – 12:00 PM
Employment Type: Full-Time

Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) practices independently in a perioperative/critical care setting, providing both routine and complex patient care. This role requires strong clinical judgment, adaptability, and critical thinking to manage evolving patient conditions and support safe surgical outcomes.

The RN will coordinate care, delegate tasks appropriately, and contribute to both short-term interventions and long-range patient care planning.

Patient Population

• Pediatric to Geriatric
• Post-Surgical Patients

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver care using the Nursing Process (assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, evaluation)
• Provide care aligned with ANA Scope and Standards of Practice
• Administer medications and treatments; monitor effectiveness and side effects
• Assess and address psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families
• Document patient history, treatments, and outcomes accurately
• Educate patients, families, and caregivers on care plans and recovery
• Delegate tasks and supervise clinical support staff appropriately
• Adapt to complex clinical scenarios and manage patient care contingencies

Qualifications

Education:

• BSN preferred

Experience:

• Minimum 1 year RN experience in related specialty (preferred)
• Perioperative / OR experience preferred
• RN Residency or recent OR/Perioperative experience is a plus

Licensure & Certifications (Required)

• Active RN License (Texas or Compact)
• BLS – AHA
• ACLS – AHA
• PALS (AHA) or ENPC – Required

Additional Requirements

• Must complete New Nurse Orientation within 30 days
• Participation in preceptorship and competency validation programs
• Maintain all annual competencies and certifications
