Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) / Medical Technologist (MT) – Blood Bank
Shift: Saturday – Monday
Hours: 6:00 AM – 7:30 PM
Schedule: 3x12s

- Strong Transfusion Services / Blood Banking experience – MUST HAVE
Job Summary
The Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) / Medical Technologist (MT) is responsible for performing both routine and complex laboratory procedures with a focus on Blood Bank / Transfusion Services. This role includes specimen processing, testing, result reporting, quality control, and equipment maintenance, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine and complex laboratory testing, especially in Blood Bank
- Process, collect, and handle patient specimens accurately
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot lab instruments and equipment
- Perform and monitor quality control procedures
- Calculate, verify, and report lab results
- Utilize Laboratory Information Systems (LIS)
- Communicate and document critical values promptly
- Participate in development and implementation of lab procedures
- Cross-train across laboratory departments as required
- Perform phlebotomy and patient-related tasks when needed
- Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and organizational standards
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in:
- Clinical Laboratory Science
- Medical Technology
- Chemical, Biological, or Physical Science
Experience
- No experience required for NAACLS-accredited program graduates
OR - Minimum 1 year clinical laboratory experience, including rotations in:
- Blood Bank
- Microbiology
- Chemistry
- Hematology
- Immunology
- Urinalysis / Body Fluids
Certifications (Required)
- One of the following:
- MLS / MT / CLS / MLT Certification
- Accepted certifying bodies:
- ASCP
- AMT
- AAB
- HEW/HHS
- Certification must be active and maintained
- New grads must obtain certification within 1 year of hire
