Description
Job Overview
The Surgical Reprocessing Technician is responsible for cleaning, sterilizing, and preparing surgical instruments and equipment. This role ensures all tools are properly processed and ready to support surgical procedures across various hospital departments.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean, inspect, assemble, and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment
- Operate sterilization methods such as steam, Sterrad, and high-level disinfectants
- Monitor and document sterilization processes to ensure compliance
- Prepare and organize case carts based on procedure needs
- Maintain proper inventory levels and stock supplies
- Receive, unpack, and store surgical supplies
- Coordinate with surgical teams to ensure instruments are available when needed
- Follow infection control and safety standards
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Central Service Certification (CRCST or equivalent)
- Basic computer and documentation skills
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- BLS certification (preferred)
- Experience in sterile processing or hospital setting
