Occupational Therapist (OT) – Adult Rehab

Facility: OU Medical Center – OU Health
Location: 700 NE 13th St, Oklahoma City, OK 73104
Department: Adult Rehab Services (76200)
Assignment Type: Short-Term Travel Contract
Duration: 13 Weeks, with potential for extension
Schedule: Full-Time | 40 Hours/Week | Day Shift (5x8s, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM)
 

Job Summary

OU Health is seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist (OT) for the Adult Rehab Services department at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City. This role involves providing comprehensive occupational therapy services to adult and trauma patients in an acute care hospital setting.

The Occupational Therapist will evaluate patients, develop individualized treatment plans, and implement therapeutic interventions aimed at improving functional independence, daily living skills, and overall quality of life.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate patients using standardized occupational therapy assessment tools
  • Assess functional abilities including:
    • Activities of daily living (ADLs)
    • Independent living skills
    • Cognitive and psychosocial functioning
    • Work and vocational readiness
  • Develop individualized treatment plans with short- and long-term goals
  • Implement therapeutic interventions to improve patient independence
  • Design and fabricate adaptive equipment and recommend orthotic devices
  • Train patients and families on:
    • Home exercise programs
    • Safety techniques
    • Use of adaptive equipment
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary care teams
  • Support discharge planning and continuity of care
  • Document patient evaluations, progress, and outcomes accurately

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Therapy (minimum requirement)
  • Active Oklahoma Occupational Therapist license (required at time of submission)
  • Current BLS certification
  • Strong knowledge of occupational therapy principles, evaluation techniques, and treatment planning
  • Ability to interpret physician referrals and develop appropriate treatment plans
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred Experience

  • Acute care hospital experience
  • Trauma experience strongly preferred
  • Travel therapy experience preferred but not required
  • Experience in inpatient rehabilitation or high-acuity medical settings

Work Schedule & Expectations

  • Monday–Friday schedule (5x8 hour shifts)
  • Day shift: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
  • 40 hours per week
  • Full-time travel assignment
  • Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced acute care/trauma environment
