Registered Nurse – Emergency Department

Location: Danville, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Seeking an experienced Emergency Department RN with 5+ years of ED experience. Candidates with combined ICU and ED experience will also be considered. The position is based in a 31-bed Emergency Room with 2 triage rooms, serving all patient ages including behavioral health and acute patients.

Work Schedule

36 hours per week guaranteed
Rotating weekends/as needed
No call requirements
Float as needed

Unit & Patient Care Details

Patient ratio typically 1:4, with exceptions during high volume or special circumstances
Electronic Health Records primarily MedHost for ED; Meditech used for admit holds and behavioral health patients
Serves a diverse patient population (all ages)

Required Certifications

ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
BLS (Basic Life Support)
NIH Stroke Scale Certification
PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) or ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course)
Crisis Prevention Intervention Training (Handle with Care) – available on-site

Requirements/Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia
Minimum 5 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience
Emergency Department experience within the last year
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Desired Attributes

Professional, positive, compassionate, and a team player
Strong Emergency Room experience preferred

Additional Information

Orientation occurs bi-weekly on Tuesdays
Candidates must be located 60 miles or more from the facility to qualify for travel status
Facility is a 250-bed academic community hospital with comprehensive surgical and emergency services
Located in a small city with a mix of small-town charm and city amenities, near the Dan River with parks and cultural attractions

Note: All candidates must complete clear screenings prior to start.
