Join a well-established behavioral health unit at Elliot Hospital, a SolutionHealth facility in Manchester, NH. This is a locked geriatric psych inpatient unit serving medically complex psychiatric patients in a structured, safety-focused environment.
Unit includes:
- 25-bed locked behavioral health unit
- Split psychiatric & behavioral care areas
- Involuntary admissions accepted
- Strong interdisciplinary support team
- Epic EMR system
🧠 Patient Population
Care for geriatric patients with:
- Psychosis (unspecified)
- Dementia with/without behavioral disturbances
- Bipolar disorder
- Depression & anxiety disorders
- Acute psychiatric illness with cognitive impairment
🩺 Key Responsibilities
- Deliver direct inpatient psychiatric nursing care
- Manage high-acuity geriatric behavioral health patients
- Perform medication administration and monitoring
- Provide wound care, Foley catheter care, IV fluids
- Assist with mobility support using lift equipment
- Participate in 15-minute safety checks & 1:1 observation
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary care teams
- Maintain a safe, structured therapeutic environment
📋 Required Experience & Qualifications (HARD STOP)
- Minimum 2 year Geriatric Psych inpatient experience
- Medical/Surgical (MS) experience REQUIRED
- No first-time travelers
- Epic EMR experience required
- BLS & CPI certifications required
- Must be comfortable with high hands-on patient care (ADLs, incontinence, mobility assistance)
🔧 Unit Highlights
- Ratios: 1:5–1:6
- Average census: 25 patients
- Every other weekend required
- Floating required to adult behavioral health (helping hands only when needed)
- No call requirements
- Orientation: 32 hours
- Safety-focused locked unit with seclusion rooms and 15-min checksd right on the Chesapeake Bay. Perfect for a traveler!
