Description

SICU Registered Nurse

Registered Nurse – Vascular Surgery / Step-Down (Travel)
Shift: Night Shift – 3x12 Hours (19:00 – 07:00)
Duration: 13 Weeks
Location Requirement: Must live within 65-mile radius (locals not accepted)

Key Responsibilities:

Provide care for vascular and post-surgical patients
Manage step-down and acute care patients with varying acuity (1:2–1:5 ratios)
Monitor and respond to post-operative complications
Support stroke patients using current guidelines and protocols
Perform bedside dysphagia screening and neurological assessments
Utilize stroke assessment tools (BE-FAST, NIHSS)
Float within scope as needed

Patient Population / Required Experience:
Must have strong experience in:
Vascular surgery patients
- AAA repair
- Carotid endarterectomy
- Fem-pop bypass
- Thrombectomy (carotid preferred)
Thoracic and cardiac surgery
- Pneumonectomy
- Post-thoracic surgery care
- EVAR procedures
- TAVR
- Intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP)
  
  Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years RN experience
- Minimum 1 year travel RN experience
- No first-time travelers
- Must self-score 3–4 in required experience areas
- Must stay within 30 minutes of facility (emergency requirement)
- Must have KY or Compact RN License (in hand)
- Must be comfortable in high-acuity surgical environment
  
  Certifications Required:
- BLS
- ACLS
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) – current certification required (within 2 years)
