Job Summary:

Acute Care COTA needed for a high-volume inpatient hospital setting with mixed medical, surgical, neurological, orthopedic, cardiac, and critical care populations. Facility also includes an acute rehab component with an average 2-week length of stay and a high volume of stroke patients.

Traveler will provide therapy services in a fast-paced acute care environment with interdisciplinary collaboration across multiple specialties.

Patient Population:

• Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics
• General medical (pneumonia, CHF, COPD, sepsis, cellulitis, COVID)
• Surgical (GI surgery, cholecystectomy, amputations, tumor resections, vascular bypass)
• Neuro (stroke, brain injury, neurosurgery)
• Ortho (joint replacements, trauma)
• Cardiac / Telemetry
• Oncology
• ICU/Critical care patients

Daily Workload:

• Average census: ~140 patients
• Approx. 12 visits/day
• Acute care + acute rehab unit coverage

Experience Required:

• Minimum 1 year COTA experience
• Prior acute care experience required
• Travel experience not required

Required Certifications:

• BLS(AHA)
• MN State License (in hand required or approved application per facility rules)

Skills Required:

• Prosthetics/orthotics (AK/BK prosthetics preferred)
• Functional splints
• Acute care rehab interventions
• CVA/stroke rehabilitation
• Orthopedic rehab (TKA/THA, fractures)
• Neuro rehab (TBI, Parkinson’s, MS, dementia/Alzheimer’s)
• Safe patient handling, lifts (ceiling lift, Hovermatt, stand-assist)
• Patient/family education
• Discharge planning
• Safety/injury prevention
• Standardized assessments

Equipment:

• Ceiling lifts
• Floor-based lifts
• Stand-assist devices
• Hovermatt / Hoverjack

Schedule Details:

• 5x8 Day shift
• Every 4th weekend rotation required
• Block scheduling not available
• 1 pre-approved RTO allowed
• No call

Facility Requirements:

• COVID vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions accepted)
• Fingerprinting required in Minnesota prior to start (no exceptions)
• Lab testing within 48 hours of signing
• Must live 25+ miles from facility (no locals accepted)
