Description

Job Opportunity: SICU Registered Nurse

Location: Charlottesville, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Unit Description

  • Surgical/Trauma ICU (SICU)
  • Fast-paced 15-bed adult critical care unit
  • Level 1 trauma facility
  • Patient population: Surgical and trauma adult critical care patients

Schedule & Hours

  • Night shift: 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM (4 shifts of 12 hours each)
  • 36 or 48 hours per week available
  • Every other weekend and every other holiday required
  • Block scheduling cannot be accommodated or guaranteed
  • Time off: 40 hours can be approved; no return to office (RTO) approval for Memorial Day weekend

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia (VA license pending submissions accepted)
  • Minimum of 1 year of recent ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Experience

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse in critical care (Surgical/Trauma ICU)

    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 vaccines or positive titer, no exemptions)
    • Hepatitis B surface antibody titer (positive required or antigen titer if antibody low/negative)
    • Varicella (2 vaccines or titer; declination accepted but must be documented)
    • Seasonal flu vaccine required annually (no exemptions)

Facility Specific Requirements

  • Completion of professional appearance guidelines and release authorizations prior to start
  • Pass/fail cardiac rhythm assessment during orientation for adult inpatient RN positions
  • Fit testing for patient-facing clinical roles, completed onsite if required
  • Certain units may require fingerprinting and abuse registry checks (not applicable unless assigned to behavioral health or specific units)

  • Government-issued photo ID carried during hours of service
