Description

CVOR Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Indianapolis, Indiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

  • Scrubbing cardiovascular operating room (CVOR) cases required
  • Float to other OR specialties expected
  • Work shifts: 3 days per week, 12-hour day shifts (6:30 AM – 7:00 PM)
  • Call requirement: Approximately 100 hours every 6 weeks, including 1 call weekend (Friday evening to Monday morning)
  • Guaranteed hours vary by shift pattern:
    • 3x12 hr shifts = 36 hours/week
    • 4x12 hr shifts = 48 hours/week
    • 8 or 10 hr shifts = 40 hours/week
  • Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Indiana
  • Minimum 2 years of CVOR nursing experience, including experience within the last year
  • Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Ability to scrub cardiovascular operating room cases

Special Requirements

  • Experience with heart & lung transplants, aortic dissections, ECMO preferred
  • Must be able to scrub CV cases
  • Locals accepted (Indiana residents receive a rate adjustment)
  • Perioperative/OR RN travelers exempt from Indiana RN work restrictions effective 11/30/24

Facility & Work Environment

  • Short-term acute care hospital setting
  • Charting system: Cerner
  • Free parking available
  • Average daily census: 70-80 patients
  • 24 operating rooms

Additional Notes

  • Orientation includes completion of facility-specific forms and mandatory safety and compliance training modules prior to start
  • On-site fit testing available only as a last resort and not at all campuses
  • Must complete required IU Health self-study orientation and tests before starting
  • Must comply with facility-specific policies and documentation requirements

This position is ideal for CVOR RNs with trauma experience seeking a travel contract in a high-acuity acute care setting with opportunities to float to other OR specialties.
