Description

Job Title: RN – Emergency Room

Location: Baton Rouge, LA

Duration: 13 Weeks

Shift Details: 12hr Night Shift (36 hours/week) – 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM

Job Summary

The Emergency Room Registered Nurse provides rapid, high-quality care to patients presenting with acute illnesses and injuries. This role requires strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced emergency setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess, triage, and provide care to emergency patients
  • Administer medications and treatments as ordered
  • Monitor patient conditions and respond to changes
  • Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams
  • Provide patient and family education
  • Maintain accurate documentation in EMR
  • Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards

Patient Population & Conditions

  • Adult and pediatric emergency patients
  • Acute illnesses, trauma, and critical care cases

Required Qualifications

  • Active RN License (LA) – Required
  • BLS, ACLS, PALS – Required
  • Minimum 2 years of ER experience
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
  • Specialty certification in Emergency Nursing

Skills Required

  • Strong clinical assessment and triage skills
  • Critical thinking and decision-making
  • Effective communication and teamwork
  • Ability to manage multiple high-acuity patients

Technology & Equipment

  • Experience with EMR systems preferred

Compliance Requirement

  • CPI Certification: Not required for this role (submit documentation stating exemption with 1-year validity to avoid notifications)

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • High-acuity, fast-paced emergency department
  • Exposure to blood, body fluids, and communicable diseases
  • Requires lifting, standing, and physical activity consistent with heavy work demands
