- General Medical-Surgical patients
- Post-operative floor-level care
- Continuous Bladder Irrigation (CBI)
- Bariatric patients
- Orthopedic cases (hips, traction)
- Trauma surgical patients
Staffing Ratios
- RN: 1:6
- LPN: 1:6
- CNA: 1:9–12
Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- NIHSS (Stroke Certification)
Required Skills
- Comprehensive MedSurg patient care
- Telemetry monitoring
- Experience with CBI
Support Staff & Resources
- CNA support (ADLs, vitals, ambulation, feeding, blood glucose monitoring)
- Charge Nurse available
- Phlebotomy services available
- Telemetry monitoring support
- Respiratory Therapy: 24/7
- Hospitalist: 24/7
- Intensivist: 24/7
- Unit Clerk/HUC: Days only (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
Technology & Equipment
- EMR: Epic / Encompass
- IV Pumps: Baxter (transitioning to Alaris in 2026)
- Medication Dispensing: Omnicell
- Monitors: Philips MX-40
- Equipment: Standard lifting devices, vital sign machines, glucometers, wound vacs (as needed), specialty beds
Floating
- Required to float to sister units (7 North & 7 South – MedSurg units with similar patient ratios and expectations)
Orientation
- New Employee Orientation (NEO): Facility-based
- Unit Orientation: 2 days
Scheduling
- Shift: 12-hour Nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
- Hours: 36 hours/week
- Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend
- On-Call: Not required
- Holiday Requirement: Travelers must work 75% of holidays
- Schedule Cycle: Every 6 weeks
- RTO: Subject to Resource Team approval
