Description

Registered Nurse – Outpatient Clinic

Location: Charlotte, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 8-hour shifts (approx. 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
Hours per Week: 40 hours
Weekend Requirement: No weekends
Float Requirement: Possible floating between two nearby locations


Job Description

  • Role focused on handling incoming patients in an oncology clinic setting.
  • No administration of chemotherapy or infusions required.
  • Orientation includes 24 hours of unit orientation plus a hospital orientation week; attendance at daily classes during orientation week is mandatory.
  • Scrubs are not provided; navy blue scrubs are required.
  • Return to Office (RTO) after booking is not allowed and cannot be worked out onsite. Call-offs or additional RTO may result in cancellation or denial of rehire.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in North Carolina.
  • Minimum 2 years of clinic nursing experience, with at least some experience within the last year.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • First-time travelers accepted; prior travel experience is not required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Oncology experience preferred but not required.

Compliance and Background Requirements

  • Background checks required within 90 days of start, including local, federal, national criminal databases, sex offender search, and education verification for highest degree earned.
  • North Carolina Healthcare Personnel Registry and Division of Medical Assistance searches required within 90 days prior to start.
  • Drug screening within 30 days of start (10-panel, negative result required).
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start; if past positive TB, physical within 30 days and annual updates required.
  • Fit testing for N95 mask or completion of PAPR training required within 1 year of start.
  • Immunizations and titers required: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (with facility-specific declination if titer negative/equivocal). Declinations for these immunizations are generally not accepted except for Hepatitis B with specific form.
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (starting 9/1, deadline 10/31). Exempted candidates must wear masks while on campus.

Orientation and Training Requirements

  • Completion of Non-Novant Health Worker Orientation (4-10 hours depending on acuity).
  • Medication Safety training and certificate of completion required.
  • Competency exams as applicable, including medication/pharmacology competency.
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam not required for outpatient clinic RNs.
  • Annual compliance training and facility-specific education modules required.

Additional Facility-Specific Requirements

  • Confidentiality agreement, hospital policies acknowledgment, and other facility-specific documents must be signed prior to start.
  • Photo for badge must be submitted immediately after signing contract; passport-style photo on white background with candidate holding a paper showing full name and phone number.
  • Corporate ID setup required: candidates must create a password and log into the learning system within 24 hours of receiving email instructions to avoid start delays.
  • No weekends required; floating between two locations possible.

References and History

  • Two professional references within three years required for travel RNs.
  • Employment application must be uploaded prior to start.
  • Performance evaluation required if worked with the agency for over one year.
