Description
Job Title: Travel Clinical Pharmacist I (Days)
Location: Alexandria, LA
Job Type: Travel Assignment (Temp-to-Perm Possible)
Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift: 8-hour day shifts (varied start times)
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Duties:
- Review, interpret, and verify physician medication orders
- Accurately prepare and dispense medications, including sterile and non-sterile compounds
- Maintain complete and accurate patient medication records
- Supervise pharmacy technicians and support staff
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards
- Manage controlled substances per legal requirements
Clinical Duties:
- Monitor drug therapies for safety, interactions, and effectiveness
- Provide pharmacokinetic dosing and renal dosing adjustments
- Identify and report adverse drug reactions
- Participate in antimicrobial and opioid stewardship programs
- Provide drug information and consultation to healthcare providers
- Educate patients and families on medication use
- Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and quality improvement initiatives
Requirements:
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or BS in Pharmacy
- Active State Pharmacist License
- BLS or ACLS certification required
- PALS certification (required for pediatric care)
- Minimum 1 year of experience (hospital experience preferred)
