Job Title: Respiratory Therapist

Location: Jackson, Michigan (Henry Ford Jackson Hospital)
Client: Henry Ford Health System
Department: Respiratory EKG Services
Assignment Duration: 13-week contract (Potential for extension)
Schedule: 3 days/week, 12-hour night shifts (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM), every other weekend
 

Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Respiratory Therapy Supervisor, the Respiratory Therapist provides critical respiratory care services, including life support, resuscitation, and therapeutic interventions. This role involves performing both invasive and non-invasive diagnostic procedures for patients in intensive care and general units.

The Respiratory Therapist plays a key role in patient care coordination, clinical documentation, and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams while maintaining high standards of clinical excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Care & Procedures

• Deliver life-support care, including ventilator management and resuscitation
• Administer oxygen therapy and medical gases
• Perform invasive and non-invasive respiratory diagnostic procedures
• Provide care to patients in ICU and general practice units

Patient Monitoring & Documentation

• Monitor patient responses to respiratory treatments and adjust care accordingly
• Accurately document all aspects of patient care and interventions
• Ensure proper and timely completion of patient billing documentation

Collaboration & Communication

• Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, and healthcare team members
• Educate patients and families on respiratory care plans and treatments

Leadership & Support

• Supervise and provide guidance to respiratory therapy students, externs, and new staff
• Assist in onboarding and training as assigned
• Maintain competency across multiple departmental assignments

Required Qualifications

Experience

• Minimum of 2 years of recent experience as a Respiratory Therapist

Education

• Associate of Science Degree from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program

Licensure & Certifications

• Registered with the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
• Active Respiratory Therapist license in the State of Michigan
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Respiratory Therapy (preferred but not required)

Additional Information

• 36 hours per week guaranteed
• Night shift with weekend rotation required
• 13-week contract assignment
