Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Nurse (Registered Nurse)
Location: Burlington, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Nights, 3 shifts of 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
- Weekend Rotation: Every other Saturday and Sunday night
- Patient Volume: Facility births approximately 100-200 per month
- Unit Experience: Labor & Delivery, LDRP, Low Risk required
- Electronic Medical Record System: EPIC experience required
- First-time travelers are welcome
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Experience in LDRP (Labor Delivery Recovery & Postpartum)
- Certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing
- Experience with EPIC electronic medical record system
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Social Security Card for badge issuance
- Background Check within 60 days covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years, including:
- Social Security Trace with all aliases
- National Criminal Search
- Federal Court and Sex Offender Registry
- Education Verification (primary source, including foreign equivalency if applicable)
- NURSYS verification within 60 days of start
- Employment Application/Resume with 7-year work history
- Verification of employment history for last 5 years through third-party vendor
- Two supervisory references required (one within 12 months, one within 24 months)
- Annual skills checklist with a one-week grace period for renewal
- Facility-specific photo for badge (strict requirements: no selfies, no hats, solid color background, business casual or uniform attire, forward-facing)
- Completion of Health History Form including any physician-mandated work restrictions
- Completion and passing of EPIC test (2 attempts allowed, 3rd attempt requires manager approval)
- Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail testing policies for EKG and medication exams
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 12 months (as applicable)
- Fit mask test annually with approved N95 respirators (exceptions apply)
- Adult Tdap vaccine proof required
- Negative TB test (Qgold/TSPOT) within 6 months or chest X-ray if positive history
- TB Questionnaire within 30 days of start and updated annually
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines at least 28 days apart
- Hepatitis B: Titer or declination required; if non-reactive, booster series required
- Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines at least 28 days apart
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 40 days of start (includes THC, opiates, cocaine, amphetamines, etc.)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually
Additional Requirements
- Completion of orientation safety manual acknowledgement
- Completion of medication/pharmacology competency exam (minimum 80% passing score)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for all RNs except Behavioral Health or Case Managers (pass/fail, 2 attempts max)
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) training not required for Behavioral Health RNs
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) certification may be preferred depending on unit
- Facility floating policy and contractor equipment acknowledgement forms must be reviewed and signed
- Workday login and onboarding tasks must be completed prior to start
Notes
- Fingerprinting required only for Home Health and Long-Term Care positions (not applicable here)
- Prior travel experience is not required for this position
- Candidates must be flexible with scheduling and comply with strict attendance policies
- Candidates must be aware of and agree to all compliance deadlines and testing requirements prior to start
