Description
Job Title: OR RN First Assist (RNFA) – Travel/Contract
Shift: Day Shift, 5x8-hour (7:00 AM – 3:30 PM)
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Operating Room RN First Assist (RNFA) to support surgical teams across multiple specialties. The ideal candidate will have strong first assist experience and be confident working in a fast-paced OR environment with diverse case types.
Key Responsibilities
- Function as RN First Assist (RNFA) during surgical procedures
- Provide direct intraoperative patient care and assist surgeons
- Support surgical cases including:
- Orthopedics (strong experience required)
- Endoscopy
- General Surgery
- ENT procedures
- Maintain sterile field and adhere to OR safety protocols
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, and perioperative staff
- Float within scope of practice as needed
Schedule & Call Requirements - Day shift: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (5 days/week)
- Call rotation required
- Weekend requirement: Every 6th or 7th weekend
- Block scheduling: Not available
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license
- Minimum 2 years recent OR RNFA experience
- Current First Assist experience (mandatory)
- Strong orthopedic surgery background
Certifications Required - BLS (AHA)
- ACLS (AHA)
- PALS (AHA)
Facility Requirements
- Must reside ≥75 miles from facility
- Floating required within scope
- Ratios may vary based on census and call needs
