MRI Technologist - Charlotte, NC (Contract)

Facility Overview

  • Address:, Charlotte, NC 28207
  • Size: 244 licensed beds (ED: 16 beds; ICU: ~20 beds; Progressive: ~40 beds; No trauma designation)
  • Accreditation: TJC Stroke accredited
  • Imaging Services: X-Ray, CT, Ultrasound, MRI, Interventional Radiology, Nuclear Medicine (with Radiology Nursing support)
  • Radius Rule: Traveler's permanent address must be 50+ miles from facility

Department Snapshot

  • Census: Inpatient at 100% capacity (~224 patients)
  • Volume: ~23 MRI studies/day (higher weekdays, lower weekends)
  • Experience: 1+ years required; first-time travelers accepted
  • Patient Mix: ED, Inpatient, Observation, Outpatient; heavy medical device cases; anesthesia as needed (no cardiac imaging)

Shift & Scheduling

  • Available Shifts: F/S/S 7p-7a OR Mon/Tue 8a-8:30p, Thu 6:30a-7p (12hr Day Shift - 36 hrs; confirm exact)
  • Weekends: No rotation
  • Call: None
  • Holidays: Travelers work 75%
  • RTO: Resource Team approval
  • Floating: No

Requirements

  • Licenses/Certs: ARRT(R) or NMTCB + ARRT(MR) or ARMRIT; BLS; NC licensure not required
  • Key Skills:
    • Verify orders, obtain/review EMR history (EPIC), screen patients (2 identifiers).
    • Administer IV contrast per protocol; evaluate images; document in MAR/Radiant.
    • MRI safety expert (staff/patient); assist anesthesia; basic patient care/life support.
    • Infection control, radiation safety, bloodborne pathogens compliance.
    • Operate EPIC (EMR), Epic Radiant (RIS), Philips iSite (PACS).

  • 1.5T SIGNA Artist 450W (1 scanner)

Support & Orientation

  • Team Support: Guest Services/Transport (Inpatient/ED/Obs); Tech assistant (overnight)
  • Onboarding: 1 day admin (EPIC, eLearnings); 2 days-1 week dept. (as needed)
  • Other: Black scrubs; free surface lot/parking decks
