Description

Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Greensboro, North Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
  • Schedule: Every 3rd weekend and holidays as needed
  • Float: Required to float between all campuses as needed
  • Patient Ratio: 1:6
  • Unit: Inpatient acute care rehabilitation
  • Patient Population: Patients with CVA, TBI, ABI, spinal cord injury, neurological diagnoses, generalized debility, post-op surgical, stroke, aneurysm, and other rehabilitation needs

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in North Carolina
  • Minimum 1 year of Med Surg / Telemetry nursing experience within the last year
  • Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Required Certifications & Licenses

  • Pass/fail EKG/Dysrhythmia competency exam (must score 82% or higher; 2 attempts allowed)
  • EPIC system proficiency required
  • Other certifications may be required depending on unit (verify with recruiter/unit manager):
    • ACLS, PALS, NRP, NIH Stroke Certification (required for some units)
    • CPI and TNCC may be preferred for certain units

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
  • Social Security Card (for badge issuance)
  • Background check within 60 days covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
  • Education verification (Associate’s degree in nursing or higher required)
  • Transcript/Diploma as proof of highest education
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 40 days of start
  • Immunizations/vaccinations including:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (adult vaccine required)
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or 2 vaccines)
    • Varicella (positive titer or 2 vaccines)
    • Hepatitis B (titer or declination with boosters)
    • Seasonal Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 6 months of start
  • Fit mask test (N95 respirator) completed within current calendar year and updated annually
  • Physical exam (if applicable)
  • Fingerprinting required only for Home Health and Long-Term Care positions (not this role)

Orientation & Onboarding

  • Completion of Workday login and onboarding tasks prior to start
  • Review and sign facility-specific policies including floating policy and contractor equipment acknowledgement
  • Submit a professional badge photo meeting strict facility requirements (no selfies, solid color background, business casual/uniform attire)
  • Completion of Health History Form including any physician-mandated work restrictions

Skills & Competencies

  • Interpretation of laboratory results, medication reconciliation, patient health history, allergies, vital signs
  • Aseptic/sterile procedure setup and dressing changes
  • Phlebotomy and specimen labeling (capillary, throat, urine clean catch)
  • Telephone triage and pharmacy refill calls

References & Work History

  • Two supervisory references required for clinical positions:
    • One from an assignment within 12 months prior to start
    • One from an assignment within 24 months prior to start
  • Employment application/resume with 7 years of work history
  • Verification of all employment within last 5 years through third-party vendor

Important Notes

  • Candidates must be flexible with scheduling and adhere to a zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences
  • Pass/fail EKG exam required for all RNs regardless of specialty
  • Candidates must be aware they may be floated between campuses
  • Prior travel experience is required; no first-time travelers accepted

This position is ideal for experienced RNs with acute care rehab background who are comfortable working night shifts and floating across multiple campuses. Compliance with strict credentialing, immunization, and testing requirements is mandatory.
