Cardiac Stepdown / Progressive Care Unit Registered Nurse (RN) – 12 Hour Day Shifts
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for a Cardiac Stepdown/Progressive Care Unit. The RN will provide high-quality care to patients with complex cardiac conditions, including heart failure, arrhythmias, and post-cardiac surgery cases in a fast-paced acute care setting.
Location Requirement:
- Must live 50 miles away from the facility
Shift Details:
- 3 x 12-hour day shifts
- Day shift schedule
Unit Overview:
- 48-bed cardiac-focused stepdown unit
- Includes 4 pulmonary care beds and 10 cardiac surgery beds (traveler not required to take cardiac surgery beds)
- High-acuity cardiac patient population
Required Certifications & Licensure:
- Active RN license in the state/district
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – Required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) – Required
- NIHSS certification – Required
Experience Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years RN experience – Required
- Minimum 2 years Cardiac Telemetry experience – Required
- Cerner EMR experience – Required
- Graduate of an accredited or NLN-approved RN program – Required
- BSN – Highly preferred
Common Patient Diagnoses:
- CHF (Congestive Heart Failure)
- NSTEMI
- Cardiac arrhythmias
- Vascular surgery cases
Common Medications / Drips:
- Heparin
- Milrinone
- Lasix
- Bumex
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct patient care in a cardiac stepdown setting
- Monitor cardiac rhythms and manage telemetry patients
- Administer and titrate critical cardiac IV drips
- Respond to acute changes in patient condition
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary care teams
- Document patient care accurately in Cerner
- Ensure patient safety and adherence to clinical protocols
