Job Summary:

We are seeking a Recreational or Expressive Therapist to support patients in an inpatient behavioral health setting. The role focuses on providing therapeutic interventions through activities such as art, music, movement, or recreation to support mental health recovery across children, adolescents, and adults.

Shift Details:

• Day Shift: 5 x 8 hours (8:30 AM – 5:00 PM)
• Schedule: Monday–Friday (1 full weekend shift per month required)
• Alternate Schedule: Tuesday–Saturday may be considered

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan and lead therapeutic group sessions (art, music, recreation, movement, etc.)
• Provide individual and group therapy interventions
• Work with children, teens, and adult psychiatric patients
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (psychiatrists, nurses, social workers)
• Support patient engagement, coping skills, and emotional regulation
• Document patient progress and therapy sessions accurately
• Adapt activities based on patient needs and treatment plans
• Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum 6 months of inpatient psychiatric experience (must include kids, teens, and adults)
• One of the following certifications/licenses:
  • CTRS (Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist)
  • Drama Therapy Certification (Preferred)
  • Music Therapy (MT-BC or equivalent)
  • Art Therapy (ATR or equivalent)
  • Movement/Dance Therapy Certification
  • Yoga Therapy (C-IAYT with Trauma specialization or TCTSY-F)

Alternate Backgrounds Accepted:

• Social Worker (LMSW/LCSW)
• LMFT (Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist)
• Addictions Counselor
  (Must be willing to incorporate therapeutic activity-based interventions)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in group therapy facilitation
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Experience working in behavioral health or psychiatric settings

• Inpatient Behavioral Health / Psychiatric Facility
• Multidisciplinary care environment
