Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver responsible for providing and coordinating patient care using the nursing process in alignment with institutional standards. This role supports Digestive Health procedures by delivering safe, efficient, and patient-centered care throughout the procedural experience.

Essential Functions

• Perform all duties within RN scope of practice specific to the unit
• Complete initial patient assessments and develop individualized plans of care
• Implement and modify nursing care plans based on ongoing patient evaluation
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
• Ensure patient and staff safety; report and correct safety hazards
• Communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary team
• Provide constructive feedback and support peer development
• Maintain departmental competencies and pursue ongoing professional growth

Department-Specific Responsibilities (Digestive Health / Endoscopy)

• Prepare patients for procedures
• Complete assessments, review health history, start IVs, and provide patient education
• Monitor and sedate patients during procedures
• Provide care in Phase I and Phase II recovery
• Assist CRNA during cases requiring anesthesia involvement
• Direct, supervise, and evaluate patient care using the nursing process
