7p-7a, every other weekend, Will float to other ICUs in the Valley- Meridian Medical Center and Nampa Medical Center
🏥 Unit Overview
- Facility: Boise Hospital – Floor 3
- Department: Critical Care (Combined ICU staffing model)
- Units:
- SICU / Neuro ICU (16 beds)
- MICU (16 beds)
- Total ICU beds: 32 combined
- Units are separate but staffed together
👩⚕️ Staffing & Ratios
- RN:Patient ratios: 1:1 and 1:2
- CNAs: 1:8 ratio
- 2 CNAs on days
- 1–1.5 CNAs on nights per unit
- Charge Nurse: Present on each unit, does NOT typically take patients
- Resource Nurse: Available on each unit
📋 Patient Population / Diagnoses
Common ICU cases include:
- CABG, open heart recovery
- CVA, SAH, intracerebral hemorrhage
- GI bleeds
- DKA
- STEMI
- Septic shock
- Drug overdose
- Respiratory failure
- Neuro surgery patients
🚫 Not typically seen:
- Trauma
- Burns
- Transplants
💉 Skills & Clinical Requirements
- Minimum experience: 2 years ICU RN experience required
- Preferred: experience in similar or larger ICU
- Must be able to:
- Titrate drips
Common titratable drips:
- Dopamine
- Epinephrine
- Norepinephrine
- Cardene
- Nitro
- Phenylephrine (Neo)
- Vasopressin
- Diltiazem
- Insulin
- Esmolol
🫁 Equipment / Support
- Ventilators
- BiPAP / CPAP
- RT in-house 24/7 (minimum 2 RTs per ICU)
- Hospitalists AND intensivists in-house
📡 Monitoring & Charting
- Monitor system: Spacelabs
- RNs responsible for:
- Cardiac rhythm interpretation
- Tele strip reading
🧭 Scheduling & Expectations
- Shift: 12-hour shifts (7:00–7:30)
- Travelers scheduled to fill staffing gaps
- Night shift grouping attempted when possible
- Self-scheduling supported
Requirements:
- Every other weekend OR half weekends
- Holiday rotation required (flexible when possible)
- No call / standby requirement
🔄 Floating Policy
May float to:
- Meridian Medical Center ICU
- Nampa Medical Center ICU
- Non-ICU: possible 1:1 sitter assignment
🎓 Orientation
- 1–2 shifts

- No scrub color requirement
